Let's face it, we all love a good deal. Some good deals are honest deals, whilst others are too good to be true - literally. Many hosts out there offer either outrageous or unlimited amounts of space, but they aren't obliged to provide it to you. In fact, if you're paying say...$6/mo for unlimited space, then after you've used a few gigabytes of your so-called “unlimited” quota, it may be unprofitable for your service provider to offer a service to you. Therefore, chances are they'll either put horrible restrictions on your account, by limiting the performance of your site, number of files you can have or by restricting your ability to make backups - or they'll even go as far as terminating you!
The fact is, you can't buy a hard disk with unlimited storage, so you can't rent or buy a server with unlimited storage. No matter how much cash you want to throw at the problem, disk space is a finite amount - and the fact is, when a server begins to run out of space, services will fail, affecting the quality of your service. How annoying would that be - just because of a marketing gimmick? Therefore, if you are using 2GB of space for a small forum, why should you suffer because other people have “maxed out” their quotas? The answer is, you shouldn't - and as a result of that, we offer our customers great value packages with resources which you can consume fully.
We all want a bargain, but what if it makes the quality of service you are receiving suffer? To put it bluntly, with hosting you get what you pay for - and the lower the price, then the higher the number of clients that will need to be placed on that server so that a provider can “make bank” every month.
Unfortunately, to get good hosting, you have to pay a reasonable price - very much like if you were to buy a ticket from a budget airline, you can't expect to be sat in a first class cabin (as nice as the idea might be). We've spent many months perfecting our systems so that you get performance right out of the box, and we've chosen a data center with a network that performs, so that your data can be sent around the globe without any horrendous delays. Unlike many of the “big names”, we don't have thousands of people hosted on a cheap, unreliable server - instead, we purchase quality hardware, and host fewer people on each machine. If you're hosted with us, you'll notice the difference! :)
If you've experienced hosting from a multitude of companies, you'll know what we mean when we're talking about uptime guarantees. Some hosts get daring, promising 99.999% or 100% uptime, but when you look deeper into their policices and records, you may see a very different figure. The fact is, it's completely impossible to attain that level of uptime over time because of a multitude of potential failures - power, network, hardware or software issues have the potential to strike a server down at any moment.
You may be thinking “so, why do they offer it then?” right now, and the answer is quite simple. It's a marketing gimmick which will get them more clients, and should an incident occour, they'll only have to pay a small amount out of their vast profits - or even worse, not admit to failure at all!
We're different in this regard, because we believe that we have set ourselves a reasonable target which we can exceed month on month - 99.9%. That figure covers any outages which we are directly responsible for, and the fine print can be seen in our terms and conditions. What's more, we're a transparent company. We have linked to our uptime monitoring system in our client area, something which is operated by a completely different company - that way, you'll be able to see for yourself if anything goes wrong. We're here to apologise and compensate for our mistakes if we make them, not to hide them.
We're a real, down to earth company, and we're 100% honest. We're not here to lie and decieve our visitors - we were founded on the principles of honesty and trust, and that's how it will always be. We use real hardware which we are in control of, operate a high quality network, and offer 24x7 support. That may sound arrogant, and yes, there may be some exceptions to the rule, but the fact is, with us you know what you're getting and, unlike many of our competitors, you can expect a service which is dependable and offers great value at the same time. To put it bluntly, if you're looking for some no-nonsense hosting, then you've come to the right place.
